After graduating from Awalt I went to Foothill
Community College for two years. Went to Germany for
the '72 Summer Olympics with a Christian youth ministry
called YWAM (Youth With A Mission). Received my draft
notice while in Germany, and came home to work until
Christmas, then joined the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve.
Spent 6 months basic training and active service in
Alameda, CA, Newport News, VA and Baltimore, MD.
Finished undergraduate college work in Santa Cruz at
Bethany Bible College in 1974. Went to work as a
volunteer youth pastor at my home church Foothill
Christian Center in Los Altos where I met my wife,
Valerie, in the summer of 1975. We married in September
1976. The following year I became a full-time youth
pastor at Foothill Christian Center. Served there 5
years. In March 1982 a friend and I founded a church in
San Jose called North Valley Christian Fellowship. I
served there as executive pastor and then co-pastor for
15 years. While there I worked on my masters degree and
graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary (Pasadena,
CA) in 1994. Valerie and I then founded and pastored a
church in Fremont, California by the name of Fremont
Christian Fellowship from March 1997 to August 2000. In
September 2000 I took a position on the senior pastoral
staff of Fremont Community Church in Fremont, CA. I am
currently Lead Pastor at ShoreLife Community Church in
Capitola, CA. Valerie and I will celebrate our 32nd
wedding anniversary this year. We have three kids:
Josh (29), Ariel (25), and Nat (22). We also have
four granddaughters!
